As I said in my post yesterday, people turn to social media in emergencies. Information is updated and shared faster than on traditional media, but the information is only as reliable as the source.
It can go wrong. Here is a series of real twitter messages from Exquisite Tweets which bounced around London last Wednesday (19 January).
The first message (now removed from the threat) was about ‘shooting in Oxford Circus’. The weapon of choice for this ‘shooting’ was a camera. But it all got a little out of hand.
