Author Glenn Patterson has written the opening page of Terri Hooley and Richard Sullivan’s book Hooleygan.
The first sentence has haunted me since I read it. I quote it widely. It is short, honest, not decorated with unnecessary words, clauses, sub-clauses, adjectives or other verbiage.
In the time of 140 character posts and SMS messaging it says all it needs to in 30 characters (including the full stop). And it is a lesson in communications;
“To tell a story you must have a story.”
I wish I had written it.
