This week I am listening to …
Flory Jagoda | Memories of Sarajevo
I read today (17 September 2019) of the death of Jewish Bosnian singer, Flory Jagoda. Had not heard of her before, so a good reason to find some of her music . This 1989 album is just beautiful.
HAYA Band | Link
“The Haya Orchestra (HAYA Orchestra) is an orchestra based on Mongolian world music and incorporating modern pop music elements.” Filed as “Rock”, too acoustic, too melodic/gentle for “Rock” although there are a few harder tunes. Great – more contemporary folk. Excellent – explore more of this music.
Karine Polwart’s Scottish Songbook
Oh yes. Big fan of Karine Polwart. Ver lovely re-versioning of hard to cover songs: Since Yesterday (Strawberry Switchblade), Whole of the Moon (Waterboys), Dignity (Deacon Blue). Brilliant!
Olav Mjelva & Eli West | Hand to Play
Facebook page: “Olav Luksengård Mjelva from Norway and Eli West from USA started playing together in the beginning of 2017. The duos´ debut album is going to be recorded and released in 2018, so stay tuned!” Very good and all – too folky for me. Irish/Celtic/Americana/northern Europe. Gtr and fddl.
Saulo Duarte | Avante Delírio
Brazil – brass, rather smooth for me – might be a track or two I can play;
