The social media detox

This will be a social media detox rather than the digital detox some people talk about. Unless you go camping in some remote area, avoiding “digital” completely is impossible. That is not the objective.

This is January and the first of a series of very short reflections about social media on one of the oldest forms; a blog.

Phase 1 On Monday morning (30 December) I suspended my Facebook account and removed the shortcut from my phone. Yesterday was day zero and no Facebook led to some inconveniences which I will write about later. Today should be the avoidance of Twitter. The shortcut is gone from my phone and browser, but I expect retreat from both will be more difficult.

I left LinkedIn behind months ago. The occasional visit, yes. Daily checking no.

Here’s to the experiment.
